Why Care And Maintenance Are Important To A Reliable Liquid Fuel Camp Stove

When camping in secluded places it becomes especially vital that your liquid camping stove has the care and maintenance needed for performance. Nothing becomes more frustrating than a less useful, portable camp stove that works ineffectively. Why then sacrifice performance without the proper care needed to keep your stove in tip-top condition? Important tips to remember; reading the factory manual, cleaning after every use, test run at home, and annually cleaning are guidelines.

Factory manual

All too often people do not properly read the manuals and rely on past experiences handling a camp stove. Every stove has differences for procedures of lighting, setting up, and cleaning. Thus, reading the manual will save time and money down the road. Get to know your new camp stove inside and out, which should include safety. Not only safety information can be found but routine maintenance and cleaning tips as well. Also, check the fuel that best helps in stove performance. More than likely the best fuel class will be white gas.

Cleaning after every use

After cooling stove you should begin cleanup procedures, paying attention to hoses and checking for clogs in the fuel line. Wipe down any food spills immediately that may hinder stove operation. Warm water and biodegradable soap will help until you get home. Usually, backpacking stoves have a maintenance kit which includes a spare o- ring and tools to tighten or disconnect stove parts and a cleaning needle. Always take the repair kit with you on your camping outings. It is best to clean the jet prior to set up and then again at take down for best performance.

Test all operations of the stove to make sure it runs properly. If it does not, you have the time to determine what needs to be done before you are on the trail.
